Black and Brass is a full-service hair salon of stylists who’ve worked all over the country and are passionate about continuing their education. All the stylists have been in the business at least 10 years and have all found our specialties. We offer men’s and women’s cut and color, balayage, ombré, novelty color, keratin smoothing treatments, Japanese straightening, extensions, men’s hair system removal/reinstall/cut-in, bridal and event styling and makeup.

After completing each girl’s hairstyle she checked with us to make sure it felt comfortable and that nothing was poking, and double checked that we liked it. She worked with all the different lengths and textures of hair of my bridesmaids and created a beautiful look for each one. All our hair styles looked amazing throughout the whole night and we got several compliments. She also went above and beyond by giving us advice for makeup looks and even fixed a few of our false eyelashes that were botched by a nearby salon. Thank you so much for doing such a great job. I came to this salon, just wanting a quick, simple trim and blow dry because I was in town, for a conference. I’m from the UK and don’t usually trust hairstylists outside of London. I ended up getting the salon owner, Dana who delighted me in exceeding my expectations and she transformed my thinning, flyaway hair into a stylish and highly flattering cut that really boosted my confidence. I was so thrilled and I am just annoyed that Dana is not based in London! If I ever return to Carlsbad, I’m heading straight back to Black & Brass!

I had the salon owner cut and color my hair. I really enjoyed the overall experience. Dana respected that I am not much of a talker and just focused on my hair, which was honestly a relief. She listened to what I wanted done, asked pertinent questions and gave me what I asked for, for a reasonable price. Sounds simple but I’ve been burnt by so many bad experiences that I’m happy to have found Dana. Clean, professional, and takes the time to listen and give you exactly what you want.
