Today, Public Works staff discovered a tree on fire while working on 161st Terr N. As a team they called Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, and Florida Power and Light after it was discovered the cause of the fire. Our superintendent used our excavator to put the fire out before fire rescue arrived. After FPL disconnected power, fire rescue successfully fully extinguished the fire. Public Works staff, at the request of FPL removed the overgrowth prohibiting them from returning power to the residents. After power was restored, trees down the line began to catch fire. FPL dispatched their tree crew to remove the rest of the trees. Power should be restored shortly.
