Simone Biles wins vault final
Simone Biles won her third Olympic gold medal of the Paris Games when she won the gymnastics vault final in style on Saturday.
Biles, 27, nailed her eponymous ‘Biles II’ vault which helped her to an incredible average score of 15.300. Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade took silver with 14.966 and American Jade Carey got bronze with 14.466.
It is the seventh gold Olympic gold medal that Biles has won and the tenth medal overall.
The uneven bars final begins tomorrow at 9:40 a.m. ET. Sunisa Lee, who won a bronze in the event in Tokyo, will contend for another medal. Alergia’s Kaylia Nemour is the favorite to take bronze because of her high difficulty score.
The final two events of the women’s competition will take place on Monday. Biles and Lee will both compete for a medal in the balance beam final. Biles will also go for another medal on floor exercise along with Jordan Chiles.
Stephen Nedoroscik’s legend grows
Stephen Nedoroscik had to wait again. Only this time the decision wasn’t in his control. Nedoroscik sat in the agonizing bronze-medal position with one more competitor to go in the pommel horse final, unable to do anything but sit and watch.
But after Hur Woong fell off, Nedoroscik’s place was secured — a bronze medalist once ore.
Ireland’s Rhys McClenaghan won the gold and Kazakhstan’s Nurmiman Kurbanov grabbed the silver.

A high-scoring final (already)
Whew, 15.433 to begin the pommel horse final?!? These guys aren't playing around! It already feels as though you won’t make the podium unless you clear a 15.000, which is an extraordinary score.
A strong start to this final
Nariman Kurbanov of Kazakhstan is first up and scores 15.433!
Britain’s Max Whitlock also goes above 15, with a 15.200. What a strong start.

SIMONE BILES WINS GOLD AGAIN
The U.S. gets two to the podium again: Simone Biles wins gold, and Jade Carey wins bronze. Brazil’s Rebecca Andrade gets the silver.
Redemption for Jade Carey
Favored to win a medal on vault at the Tokyo Games, Jade Carey had a fluke error in which she messed up her steps during her run up to the spring board. She couldn't safely execute her vault and thus fell out of medal contention.
But in Paris, Carey found her footing. She began with a Cheng that had a few form breaks (bent knees and a slightly piked body position) to earn a 14.733. She was planning to do a 2.5-twisting vault like Rebeca Andrade for her second vault but opted for a double-twisting vault instead. Her 14.466 was good enough to earn her a bronze behind Biles and Andrade.
Jade Carey wins bronze
A combined score of 14.466 secures Jade Carey bronze behind Simone Biles and Rebeca Andrade.
Jade Carey is headed for a medal!
Good for Jade Carey. She's been done in by the flu, and failed to make the floor final. She looks giddy.
She is surely headed for a spot on the podium.

Jade Carey up next…
The penultimate gymnast, Yeo Seojeong of South Korea, achieves a combined score of 13.416. That’s not good enough to displace An Chang-ok in third, which means Jade Carey needs 14.217 to win a bronze medal.
It would take 14.967 for silver and a whopping 15.301 for gold.
